Resistor Identification Exercise

  1. Each student has a selection of standard resistors and a multimeter

  2. The resistor's colour bands are read and the value and tolerance entered in column 1

  3. The calculated tolerance is entered in column 2

  4. The resistor's value is then measured. Student's should not hold the leads on the resistors (alligator clips can be used). The value is entered in column 3

  5. The difference between the measured and "read" values is entered in column 4

  6. Enter the appropriate Y/N in Column 5

The entries in the first row can be used as an example.
